Happy birthday, dear Sage Age…
It’s hard to believe it, but on August 3, we will be celebrating our 36th birthday. And boy, oh boy, the world looks a lot different than it did when we opened our doors in 1983.
Back then The A-Team and Mama’s Family were on our televisions, and “Every Breath You Take” and “Africa” were topping the charts. Acid-washed jeans, big shoulder pads, crimped hair and punk rock chic could be found in just about everyone’s closet.
The senior living space looked a little different in 1983, too. Paul and Terry Klaassen had two years under their belt running the first “assisted living” community in the nation. The idea of seniors living in a space where they enjoyed autonomy and an environment that enhanced everyday life was just beginning to take hold.
And just as McDonalds introduced the McNugget and revolutionized fast-food offerings for all time, our own Faith Ott opened a boutique agency focused on marketing for senior living communities ... and helped change the industry for the better.
